NEWS FROM USA
Multiple Moroso events in the United States in June.
The Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C., is scheduled to reopen on June 14. Italian architect Luigi Moretti designed the famous hotel in the Sixties and it has now been renovated under the guidance of Ron Arad, who chose Moroso to furnish the hotel’s public areas, including the foyer, the restaurant and the lounge bar. Two new seats were even designed specifically for the restaurant: the Watergate chair and the One Skin chair and stool. One Skin is a variation of the Three Skin chair previously designed for Moroso.
At the same time, Euro Capital Properties in partnership with Moroso USA worked on the design of the library. This secluded, exclusive space set in the centre of the hotel is enriched with the deep-buttoned quilted elegance of Bohemian, the three-dimensional geometries of Redondo (both designed by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso), Alfredo Haberli’s snug Take a Line for a Walk, which renews the look of the classic armchair, and Archea Associati’s Terreria bookcase, which displays an organic consistency and divides the clear space. The library furnishings are completed by Golran rugs, distributed exclusively by Moroso in the United States.
Again on June 14, but in Chicago this time, Luminaire hosts Patrizia Moroso – Moroso’s art director – for a lively conversation with Patricia Urquiola on the occasion of the second Women in Design event, which is held for Neocon, North America’s biggest annual fair of office and contract furnishing. Their conversation will focus on Patrizia Moroso’s creative partnerships with key designers, such as Patricia Urquiola, and how these important collaborative efforts produce iconic designs.
