Chiarenza presents M’Afrique at Tenute Plaia
The Chiarenza store has organised an event at Tenute Plaia on 5 May to present M’Afrique, the Moroso collection entirely made in Dakar.
The M’Afrique range was launched in 2009. “The Africa of cultural richness and modernity deserves to be known and supported for the originality of its creative languages, which enrich our global cultural heritage,” says Patrizia Moroso. “The African continent is exceptionally rich in forms of expression, materials and ideas. These are a source of inspiration and stimulation for us and, applied to design, they generate products that communicate tradition and modernity, innovation and history, form and beauty”. M’Afrique collection products are made entirely by hand by Senegalese craftspeople who use the traditional weaving technique for making fishing nets.
Patrizia Moroso and Abdou Salam Gaye will attend this exciting event. The backdrop for the M’Afrique products is Tenute Plaia, a farm and hospitality facility set on a hill with a sweeping view over the gulf of Castellammare in the heart of the province of Trapani. The stars of the evening are the M’Afrique version of Ron Arad’s Big Easy armchair presented at the last Milan Furniture Show; Tord Boontje’s sculptural Shadowy armchair; Sebastian Herkner’s colourful Banjooli range; Marc Thorpe’s Husk and Baobab seats; and Federica Capitani’s elegant Imba.
