“Moroso and I started to work together many years ago. In a certain way, this collaboration has been the turning point of my career and I believe that it contributed to Moroso’s development as well. At the very beginning we were discovering each other, while now the relation has become more confidential. During the talk at Ironside, during Miami Art Basel, I will disclose my ideas about how to develop my collaboration with Moroso in the future”

“I wanted to create something austere and beautiful that speaks to Marina’s work in a very direct way, but also celebrates the level of craftsmanship and design that Moroso brings to life in the project.”

It’s not a chaise longue, it’s not an armchair. It’s a portal, an hardware that represents a doorway leading to another location, period of time or dimension. A material instrument that could give mental comfort as well as physical and visual.
That can be transported by a “porter”, in the latin ethimology of portarius, “gate keeper”. That helps you going from one dimension to another.

Art Basel
Miami
December
3-7, 2014

[/intense_column]
[intense_column size=”8″ medium_size=”8″ small_size=”8″]The passion of Moroso for contemporary art has become one of its important distinguishing features, as spearheaded by Patrizia Moroso, art director of the brand:
“The visual arts and the broader creative context that has surrounded me throughout my career have undoubtedly influenced the way I work and the way I view design. I have always ensured that there were points of contact between Moroso and the art world”
Moroso has been in Miami during Miami Art Basel from the 3rd to the 7th of December, with a selection of its iconic designs and some of the projects that have been produced by virtue of its latest collaborations with top names in the panorama of design, architecture and contemporary art.
Moroso’s most important contribution to the 2014 Miami Art Basel event came as a result of the partnership that has been established between the brand and Marina Abramovic in order to develop a collection of limited-edition design objects connected with Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI). The first creations that were developed out of this collaboration were exhibited during the event-week in Miami.

Among these projects, the first that had been produced by Moroso for MAI is the ‘Counting the Rice’ table designed by Daniel Libeskind in two versions. While the first version, made out of wood, has been positioned in the Design District, the second and new version, made out of concrete, has been exhibited at Design Miami. Here also it has been presented the new Portal chair, by Patricia Urquiola, produced by Moroso also for MAI.
In addiction, Moroso furnished the Botanical Garden and its internal restaurant, The Garden Café. The brand has chosen some of its most colourful outdoor furnishings for these venues, pulling pieces from the M’Afrique collection.
Moving to the Upper East Side, Moroso exclusively furnished the Design Escape lounge inside Miami Ironside, with some of Ron Arad’s most renowned pieces. The Victoria and Albert armchairs and the Spring Collection were on display.
Back in Miami’s Design District, Moroso launched the Zabuton armchair designed by Nendo and the Brook ottoman, by Tokujin Yoshioka at Luminaire Lab showroom, for the exhibition ‘Design Japan’, which started from December 2nd and ran until December 6.[/intense_column]
